Commission to meet Thursday at JCCC

Overland Park -- Wildlife and Parks commissioners will meet next Thursday to discuss, among other things, fall bird hunting seasons.

Also on the agenda are rabbit, hare, and squirrel seasons, limits and taking methods; quail and prairie chicken seasons and limits; early migratory bird seasons; and dove season and limits.

The meeting will begin at 1:30 p.m. in Room 233 of the General Education Building at Johnson County Community College, 12345 College Blvd.

Supercat tourney set Aug. 8 in Atchison

Atchison -- The Supercat Tournament, a four-team team fishing event, is scheduled Aug. 8 on the Missouri River.

Sign-ups will begin Monday at South Town Bait in Atchison. The entry fee is $200, and entries will be accepted through Aug. 7.

First- and second-place teams will earn a berth in Cabela's King Kat Classic Aug. 27-28 in Fort Madison, Iowa.
