Heinz squeezes ketchup into low-carb market

Forget 57 — Heinz has added another variety of ketchup to its lineup.

The latest version is aimed at diabetics and people watching their carbohydrate intake.

Heinz One Carb Ketchup is the newest in the lineup. The reduced-sugar product has 1 gram of carbohydrates per tablespoon versus 4 grams per tablespoon in the regular version.

Splenda no-calorie sweetener replaces fructose corn syrup sweetener.

The ketchup also has two-thirds fewer calories.

It’s $1.79 for a 14-ounce bottle.

Burger marks milestone

Happy 100th birthday, hamburger patty. The ubiquitous entree made its official debut at the St. Louis World’s Fair in 1904 and has had a hold on the American imagination ever since.

Speaking of imagination, if you’ve dreamed up an artful burger recipe, why not enter it in the annual Build a Better Burger Recipe contest sponsored by Sutter Home Winery? The grand prize is $50,000.
