William Victor Taylor

? Memorial services for William Victor Taylor, 65, Topeka, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Newcomer Family Funeral Home in Topeka. Inurnment will be in Penwell-Gabel’s Memorial Park Cemetery in Topeka.

Mr. Taylor died Saturday, June 5, 2004, in Topeka.

He was born Sept. 20, 1938, in New York, and was raised by foster parents in Salem, Ore. He graduated from high school in Salem and attended the University of Oregon. He lived in Lawrence for 27 years and in Topeka for the past 10 years.

Mr. Taylor was a gunnery sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He worked for Douglas County and later Johnson County before he retired. He was a member of Acacia Lodge 9 A.F. & A.M .and the Scottish Rite bodies, both in Lawrence.

He married Carol Davenport on Feb. 2, 1967, in Baldwin. They divorced. He married Cindy Winter on Dec. 16, 1995. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include a son, Michael, Lawrence; two stepdaughters, Elizabeth White and Jolene Granger, both of Topeka; a stepson, George Winter, Topeka; two grandsons; and a stepgranddaughter.
