Osburn services

Services for James Alvis Osburn, 73, Warrensburg, Mo., will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will be in Clinton Cemetery.

Mr. Osburn died Sunday, June 6, 2004, at Ridge Crest Nursing Center in Warrensburg.

He was born Aug. 12, 1930, in Homer, La., the son of Heubert E. and Emma Ethel Vassar Osburn. As an infant he moved to Parsons, where he attended public schools. He moved to Lawrence in 1960. He moved to Warrensburg seven years ago.

Mr. Osburn was a carpenter at Kansas University from 1976 until he retired in 1994.

He married Barbara May Keller on Feb. 26, 1955, in Parsons. She died in 1990.

Survivors include five sons, Bobby and James, both of Lawrence, Jesse, Alvis and Ira, all of Leeton, Mo.; two daughters, Emma Osburn, Leeton, and Ellen Osburn, Topeka; four brothers, Edward, Merced, Calif., Richard, Indiana, Ralph, Lawrence, and William, Lecompton; 20 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home, where family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

The family suggests memorials to Crossroads Hospice, sent in care of the funeral home.
