James I. McLeod

Mr. McLeod died Tuesday, June 8, 2004, at his home.

He was born Nov. 22, 1923, in Dearborn, Mich., the son of Neil and Eva Boyd McLeod. He received a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Kansas University in 1952. He moved from Kansas City, Kan., to rural Perry in 1969.

Mr. McLeod served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked for many years as a mechanical engineer for Marley Cooling Tower Co. in Olathe. He was a member of Wyandotte Blue Lodge and Scottish Rite bodies in Kansas City, Kan., Abdallah Shrine in Overland Park, and Lake Perry Country Club and Men’s Golf Assn.

He married Mary Elisabeth White on Sept. 18, 1943, in Tacoma, Wash. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include a daughter, Janice E. Kazar, Lawrence; a brother, Jerry, Wayne, Mich.; two sisters, Ruth Orwin, Westland, Mich., and June Smiley, Inkster, Mich.; two granddaughters; and five great-grandchildren.
