Raiders reach title game

? Lawrence’s Raiders plated three runs in the bottom of the seventh to defeat Leavenworth, 5-4, in a second-round Topeka Post 400 American Legion baseball tournament game at Seaman’s field.

The victory pushed the Raiders into today’s 4 p.m. finals against Topeka 400, the only other 2-0 team in the tourney.

Dominick Harrell hit a two-out, two-strike, two-run single to tie the game in the seventh. Brett Lisher singled him in for the game-winning hit. Lisher also homered in the fourth inning.

Matt Wingert was the winning pitcher in relief of Taylor Martin.

“It’s exciting to win a game like that, but our effort and energy hasn’t been what we expect,” coach Reggie Christiansen said. “We just want to play the game the right way. We are not playing the game with energy. Two times in a row we’ve found a way to win late. An alarm clock seems to go off in the fifth inning.”
