Marion Thelma Wehage

A memorial service for Marion Thelma Wehage, 69, Lawrence, will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Private burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence.

Mrs. Wehage died Thursday, June 3, 2004, at Midland Hospice House in Topeka.

She was born Dec. 22, 1934, in Long Beach, Calif., the daughter of Ervin W. and Thelma Conlee Bruening. She grew up in Redondo Beach, Calif.

Mrs. Wehage and her family moved to Kansas in 1968. She was a homemaker.

She married Dale L. Wehage on Aug. 25, 1963. He died June 16, 2003. Two children, Thelma Ewing and Shane Wehage, also died earlier.

Survivors include two sons, Darrell Allender, Ottawa, and William Allender, Osawatomie; a daughter, Deborah Burgoon, Osawatomie; four brothers, Kenneth Bruening, Woodland, Calif., Bill and Robert Bruening, both of Lawrence, and Jack Bruening, Idaho; two sisters, Lois Boice, Bishop, Calif., and Patty Sensat, Yucca Valley, Calif., three stepbrothers, Jim Hurd, Oahu, Hawaii, Fred Hurd, Reno, Nev., and David Hurd, Harbor City, Calif.; a stepsister, Betty Dixon, Shelley, Idaho; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

The family will greet friends after the memorial service.

The family suggests memorials to Midland Hospice House, sent in care of the funeral home.
