Shelah Kay Wisler

Mass of Christian burial for Shelah Kay Wisler, 56, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery.

Mrs. Wisler died Thursday, June 3, 2004, at her home.

She was born May 14, 1948, in Kirby, Ark., the daughter of Alex and Lema Sue Barentine O’Neal.

Mrs. Wisler graduated from Texarkana Junior College as a licensed practical nurse and worked at several hospitals in Arkansas. She also received her real estate license in Arkansas.

She moved to Lawrence in 1992, where she worked as a nurse at the Weight Loss Center, a legal assistant and office manager for the Wisler Law Office and the Antique Mall.

Mrs. Wisler was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Alcoholics Anonymous and Salesman of the World.

She married James Lynn Wisler on May 5, 1994, in Topeka. He survives, of the home.

Other survivors include two daughters, Lorie Barker, Plano, Texas, and Patsy Beck, Cadiz, Spain; four stepdaughters, Simone and Charity Wisler, both of Kansas City, Kan., Hilary Velandia, Kansas City, Mo., and Tess Wisler, Lawrence; two stepsons, Mac and Michael Wisler, both of Lawrence; four sisters, Patsy Grant and Sue Seals, both of Glenwood, Ark., Joyce Turner, Hot Springs, Ark., and Peggy Smith, Dewitt, Ark.; a brother, Ricky O’Neal, Norman, Ark.; and six grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.

The family suggests memorials to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church or Alcoholics Anonymous, sent in care of the mortuary.
