Douglas County Family and Community Education in cooperation with K-State Research & Extension Family and Consumer Sciences is offering a program “Eating Well But Cooking Less” at 9:30 a.m. Friday in the Deal Six Auditorium at the Douglas County 4-H Fairgrounds, 2110 Harper St.

The program will be given by Lisa Martin, Shawnee County Extension agent. The program, which has a small fee, will offer nutrition information, time-saving tips and recipes. Samples of dishes will be available.

To register, call the Extension Office at 843-7058. The program is free and open to the public.

  • Kanwaka Family and Community Education will met at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the home of Mary Ann Strong. Co-hostess will be Norma Kampschroeder. Margaret Wulfkuhle will give the lesson on “Celebrating Local Foods.”
  • India Family and Community Education will meet at 1:15 p.m. Thursday at the home of Norma Leary. Co-hostess is Genny Hunsinger. The lesson will be on container gardening.
