Sunny skies expected today

If you’re a Beatles fan, you might find yourself today humming the old Lennon-McCartney hit, “Good Day Sunshine.”

“The sun is shining out there,” said Matt Sayers, 6News meteorologist. “It’s just a gorgeous day to get out and enjoy.”

Although other parts of the state will get up into the mid 80s, Lawrence’s high is expected to be a more comfortable 76, with winds only 3 to 8 mph, Sayers said.

“We are living right, here on the eastern side of the state,” Sayers said.

Overnight, the temperature will drop to 56 by Friday morning. Friday will bring a little warmer weather, with the high reaching 82.

“We will stay dry tomorrow, but there are chances of rain tomorrow night and into the weekend,” Sayers said.

The best possibility for rain for the weekend will be on Saturday afternoon, when there’s a 40 percent chance for thunderstorms, he said.

Saturday morning’s low temperature will be 60, with the high reaching 78.

On Sunday, the rain chances dwindle down. Sunday’s morning low will be 62, with the high reaching 80.
