Army Pvt. Tyson Hoggatt has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C.

During the nine weeks of training, Hoggatt studied the Army mission. He received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training.

Hoggatt, a 2003 Lawrence High School graduate, is the son of Alan Hoggatt, Lawrence.

Sgt. Jason Kent, Perry, received a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for professional achievement while serving as an amphibious assault vehicle crew chief. During Operation Iraqi Freedom, Kent’s vehicle served as the command vehicle for the infantry weapons platoon commander.
