Teen reports neighbor made advances on her

A 15-year-old Lawrence girl told police a 54-year-old male neighbor made sexual comments and tried to touch and kiss her when she went to his home to borrow an item.

The incident happened about 6 p.m. July 18 in the south part of Lawrence and was reported the next day, said Sgt. Dan Ward, a Lawrence Police spokesman.

Police, who made a report on the incident public Thursday, are still investigating.

Resident reports sexual assault by acquaintance

A 24-year-old Lawrence woman told police an acquaintance sexually assaulted her about 10 p.m. Wednesday at her residence in the south part of Lawrence.

The woman told police the man forced his way into her home, threw her on her bed and touched her inappropriately.

The suspect left when a roommate came home, said Sgt. Dan Ward, a Lawrence Police spokesman.

Police are still investigating and are classifying the case as a rape. The suspect is a Lawrence man in his 20s.
