? Services for Mary Catherine Summers, 89, Clay Center, were Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, Clay Center.

Mrs. Summers died Wednesday, July 21, 2004 at Presbyterian Manor, Clay Center.

She was born April 3, 1915, in St. Joseph, Mo., the daughter of William and Maenora Peterson Badger. She attended grade school in St. Joseph and graduated from St. Joseph Junior College and Platte Business College.

She and her husband moved to Clay Center in 1950, where the couple owned and operated Summers’ Men’s and Boys’ Wear from 1964 to 1981.

Mrs. Summers was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where she served as a deacon, elder and Sunday school teacher. She also was a member of the Nea study club, PEO, and the country club in Clay Center. She formerly was active in Cub Scouts and PTA.

She married Bill Summers on Dec. 12, 1936. He died Nov. 1, 1985.

Survivors include three daughters, Deborah Norwood, Lawrence, Marilyn Summers Cool, Minneapolis, Minn., and Janice Gibbs, Manhattan; two sons, William “Bo” Summers, Missoula, Mont., and Ed Summers, Austin, Tex.; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
