Chance for rain throughout the day

If you’re headed out to the county fair this afternoon, you might not get fair weather.

“We will have the spotty chance for a shower throughout the day today,” said Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist. “That heavy rainfall is staying down to the south of us.”

This morning’s temperatures in the Lawrence area were in the upper 60s, with overcast skies and the humdity at close to 90 percent.

“We will have clouds throughout the day today,” Schack said. The possibility of a shower will continue overnight, she said. The National Weather Service says there is a 30 percent chance for showers and thunderstorms today and tonight.

The temperature will climb to a high of 77 today, which is well below the average high temperature of 91 on this date, Schack said.

Friday’s morning low will drop to 63. Temperatures will climb Friday to 83 degrees, with a chance for isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening, she said. Winds will be from the southeast, 5-12 mph.

The temperature will drop to 65 on Saturday morning, with the high reaching 86 Saturday afternoon, Schack said.

A warming trend starts on Sunday and extends through next week, she said. On Sunday’, the high will climb to 90. The temperature will rise to 94 on Monday and 96 on Tuesday, she said.
