Billboard mocks Mizzou

A billboard taking a jab at University of Missouri basketball coach Quin Snyder has been put up on Highway 71 near downtown Kansas City, Mo.

The billboard, which is colored in KU colors crimson and blue, reads:

“Five seasons, four sixth-place finishes, 17 NCAA violations, God Save the Quin.” The signature on the billboard is www.paigesportsarena.com, which is a Web site that mocks Missouri and Snyder.

KU officials do not support the billboard.

“Obviously, the University of Kansas does not condone this kind of activity,” KU associate AD Jim Marchiony said Wednesday. “We would be very disappointed if the person responsible for this is a KU fan or has anything to do with KU.

“Where does something like this stop, where does it end?” Marchiony said, well aware Mizzou fans probably are cooking up billboard plans of their own to place near Lawrence. “It doesn’t do Missouri any good. It doesn’t do Kansas any good. It doesn’t do intercollegiate athletics any good. It’s just a bad idea. Put that creativity and money to good use.”
