Raiders earn split with Topeka 400

? Two home runs by Taylor Martin only were good enough to deliver one victory for Lawrence as the Raiders split a doubleheader with Topeka Post 400, 6-5 and 6-5, Thursday night at Seaman High School.

Martin blasted a long ball and plated three RBIs in the opener. That provided just enough offense to ensure starting pitcher Aaron Madill of picking up his sixth victory of the season.

Topeka bolted to an early 4-1 lead in the nightcap. Martin’s second homer of the night along with two hits apiece by Carl Lisher and Tyler Blankenship gave the Raiders a chance, but two Lawrence errors proved too costly as they fell in the bottom of the ninth.

The Raiders travel to St. Joseph, Mo., today for a 6 p.m. doubleheader against St. Joseph Post 11.
