Eugene W. Frowe

Mr. Frowe died Tuesday, July 6, 2004, at home, after a long illness.

He was born Nov. 5, 1915, in Lawrence, the son of William and Mildred Junkins Frowe. He graduated from Liberty Memorial High School in 1933 and received a master’s degree in physics from Kansas University in 1938.

During World War II, he worked at the Naval Ordnance Lab in Washington, D.C., doing research on protecting the hulls of ships from magnetic mines. He also flew with the Civil Air Patrol.

In 1945, Mr. Frowe moved to Houston, where he worked for the Robert H. Ray Co. as a geophysicist. He published several papers on magnetometers and gravity meters. He spent eight years in London as a company representative.

He was a member of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists, the Geophysical Society of Houston, the Pioneer Oil Producers Society, the University Area Rotary Club and the Houston Philosophical Society.

He married Louise McComas on Jan. 6, 1945, in Baltimore, Md. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include two sons, James, Houston, and Robert, Dallas, and a sister, Eleanor Moore, Tallahassee, Fla.
