Bandits’ dynamic duo shines, Flash win
Hall sisters form a pitcher-catcher battery
The Bandits’ pitcher and catcher have an advantage over most pitcher-catcher duos.
Not only are they interchangeable, which allows them to relate to one another, but they are also twin sisters, which gives them an advantage not many players have. Being constant sidekicks allows them to communicate in a way most teammates can’t.
“I can look at her a certain way and she knows exactly what I am saying,” Rosie Hall said.
Maggie Hall pitched for the Bandits in a 15-U Lawrence Fastpitch Girls Assn. league game against the Flash on July 10. She had 10 strikeouts in four innings of work.
The twins also bat back-to-back in the lineup. Maggie singled after laying down a bunt in the fourth inning. She took advantage of a passed ball to score while Rosie was up to bat. Rosie followed her by getting on base with a walk.
Bases on balls allowed 18 girls for both teams to get on base. With so many walks, Maggie said base running becomes an important part of the game.
“If you can get on base with a walk, you can get around the bases on passed balls and errors,” Maggie said.
For the Flash, coach Danny Manning said the development he saw from his players ,especially while batting, was a key part of the win.
“Our batters were really patient at the plate.” Manning said.
The Flash wasted no time in scoring, The Flash’s offense, including a three-run first inning, proved to be no match for the Bandits defense.
The Flash scored in every inning. Stacy Bell led off the fourth inning with an inside- the-park home run.
