More storms expected tonight

Lawrence residents can expect to see a few more lingering showers through the morning, but the storms that thundered through the area overnight had moved off to the east by 7 a.m., said Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist.

A severe line of storms blew into the Lawrence area after 2 a.m., with 50 mph winds and penny- to nickel-sized hail, Schack said. The storm brought 0.32 of an inch of rain at Lawrence Municipal Airport. About 0.04 of an inch more rain had fallen between 4 a.m. and 6 a.m. at the airport.

Skies will be cloudy out through the day, with the high reaching 87, Schack said.

“Overnight, showers and thunderstorms return to the area,” she said.

The temperature will fall to a low of 69 by Tuesday morning, with the high reaching 81, under partly cloudy skies.

Wednesday morning’s low will be 65, with the high climbing to 86 under partly cloudy skies.
