The Lawrence TGIF Duplicate Bridge Club met June 25. Eleven and a half tables of competitors participated in a qualifying game for the North American Open Pairs championship. Don Brennaman directed the stratified game that used a Mitchell movement.
Playing the North-South cards, Harriett Olson and Dan Osman swept first place in A, B and C. Kent McCullough and Clyde Romer finished second in A and B. Lester Dalton and Mary Fenlon placed third in A and B. Virginia Seaver and Yvonne Hedges were fourth in A and B. Betty Collier and Patt Radford took fifth in A. Madelyn Jenks and Phyllis Brownlee were second in C.
Competing East-West, Dave Piro and Paul Heitzman claimed first place in A. Don Daugherty and Harry Talley placed second in A and first in B and C. Lois Jones and Jeff Nash took third in A and second in B. Diane Childs and Judy Hildreth were fourth in A and third in B. Virginia Eddy and Shirley Vaughn placed fifth in A, fourth in B and second in C. Bebe Huxtable and Wanna Roszel were third in C.
Overall, Piro and Heitzman finished first in A. Olson and Osman were second in A and first in B and C. McCullough and Romer were third in A and second in B. Daugherty and Talley placed fourth in A, third in B and second in C. Jones and Nash took fifth in A and fourth in B. Childs and Hildreth placed sixth in A and fifth in B. Eddy and Vaughn were third in C. Huxtable and Roszel placed fourth in C. Jenks and Brownlee were fifth in C.

Competing East-West, Helen Huffman and Bob Huffman swept first place in A, B and C. Eldon Herd and Glenna Herd finished second in A. Jo Andersen and Steve Rigo were second in B and C.

Playing the East-West cards, Russ La Force and Jean Otney claimed first place in A and B. Virginia Seaver and Klee Zaricky placed second in A. Terry Tolar and Lynn Hui finished third in A, second in B and first in C. Donna Johnson and Paul Heitzman were fourth in A.
