Former state senator dies in Texas at 71

? Bill Wisdom, who represented Kansas City, Kan., in the state Legislature for more than two decades, has died at the age of 71.

Wisdom, who announced his retirement in 1996, died Wednesday at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, according to the Maple Hill Funeral Home.

Wisdom served four years in the state Senate and 18 in the House, where he rose to be vice chairman of the House Appropriations Committee.

For a time, Wisdom and two other lawmakers from Kansas City, Kan., gave the city the distinction of having three “virtues” in its legislative delegation — Love, Justice and Wisdom. The other two legislators were Norman Justice and Clarence C. Love.
