Kanwaka 4-H Club met Jan. 6 at Kanwaka Hall. Members answered roll call by telling how they celebrated New Year’s Eve. Mariah Dickson and Martha Keslar led the club in singing “Joy to the World.” The minutes were read and approved. The club had a ceremony to recognize the new members. The club will practice for model meeting competition at 4 p.m. on Jan. 18 and Jan. 25. Jason McCandless and Justin McCandless gave a talk on holiday gift baskets. Members had a candy walk for recreation. The Brown family was the host family.

The next meeting will be Feb. 3.

  • The Douglas County Swine Project Club will meet at 2 p.m. Feb. 8 in Building 2 at the Douglas County 4-H Fairgrounds. The club will discuss upcoming swine shows, events and educational meetings. New officers will be elected.
  • Vinland Valley 4-H Club met Jan. 5 at Vinland Elementary School. The club answered roll call by naming their least-favorite football team. Callie Fife gave a program about chickens.
  • Meadowlark 4-H Club met Jan. 13 at the Douglas County 4-H Fairgrounds. Amy Magnuson, vice president, presided over the meeting. Members answered roll call by naming their favorite winter sport. The club sang “Happy Birthday” to members who celebrated a January birthday. Members discussed their schedule to work at the Lawn and Garden Show March 12-14. The club announced practice times for County Club Days. Margaret Pendleton and Jamie Morgison gave presentations on arts and crafts.

The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. Feb. 10 at the fairgrounds. Members will make tray favors for Meals on Wheels before the meeting at 6:30 p.m.
