Stanford remains perfect with win over Cal

Justin Davis added 13 points, seven rebounds and four steals in Stanford’s 11th straight win against Cal. Stanford (14-0, 5-0 Pac-10), the only undefeated team in the top five, has won 12 of the last 14 meetings.

Richard Midgley led a comeback attempt for Cal (6-8, 2-3), scoring all 19 of his points in the second half before fouling out with 17 seconds left. Amit Tamir added 15 points.

St. Mary’s 61

Spokane, Wash. — Cory Violette scored 20 points, Ronny Turiaf added 19, and Blake Stepp had 15 of his 16 in the second half, leading Gonzaga over St. Mary’s.

The Bulldogs (14-2, 4-0 West Coast Conference) won their seventh in a row and extended their winning streak over St. Mary’s (10-7, 1-1) to 15 straight.

Stepp added nine assists and Violette had 13 rebounds to help hold off the Gaels, who played tough all night.
