Mildred Leona Ames

? Services for Mildred Leona Ames, 90, Ottawa, will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home in Ottawa. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Ottawa.

Mrs. Ames died Saturday, Jan. 10, 2004, at Raymore Heath Care in Raymore, Mo.

She was born Sept. 30, 1913, in Ottawa, the daughter of Karl F. and Sarah A. (Smith) Johnson. She attended schools in Ottawa.

Mrs. Ames lived in Kansas City, Mo., in the late 1930s before moving to Catalina Island. She returned to the Ottawa area, where she lived until moving to Raymore in 2003.

Mrs. Ames worked for Woolworth’s store in downtown Ottawa for several years. She also helped her husband in his businesses, A&R Manufacturing and the Ottawa ice plant.

She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She also was active in Lend a Hand Class at the church and the Merry Go Round Club of Ottawa.

She married Clarence E. “Gene” Ames on Aug. 15, 1935, in Lake Charles, La. He died in July 1999.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda J. Cramer, Belton, Mo.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
