Emily and Derrick Carpenter

Emily Elizabeth Bloss and Derrick Scott Carpenter were married Aug. 2, 2003, at Baldwin United Methodist Church with the Rev. Pam Morrison officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Ron and Jan Bloss, Wellsville. She is the granddaughter of Gerald and Mary Anderson, Ottawa, and the late Lois Anne and Junior Bloss. The groom is the son of Shelley McKaig, Gardner, and Tim Carpenter, Lawrence. He is the grandson of Hoyt McKaig, Olathe, and the late Suzie McKaig and the late Harold and Maxine Carpenter.

Whitney Bloss was maid of honor. Kristin Green was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Ashley Carpenter, Heather Carpenter, Melissa Carpenter, Rachel Anderson and Lauren Webster. Mary Webster was junior bridesmaid. Sheafer McKaig was flower girl.

Jon Kramer was best man. Groomsmen were Josh Katzer, Matt Howarter, Darrin Coughenour, J.T. Strickland, Brad Bloss and Austin Bloss. Ushers were David Moss, Jon Anderson and Brad Kramer.

Justin Green was scripture reader. Music was provided by the Suzuki Strings, vocalist Jill Koch and pianist Carolyn Groves.

A reception followed at Liberty Hall.

The bride graduated summa cum laude with a degree in health promotion in May 2001 from Emporia State University.

The groom graduated with a degree in computer information systems in May 2002 from ESU. He works for Wal-Mart.

The couple took a honeymoon trip to Jamaica and now live in Bentonville, Ark.
