  • Bryan Maygers, 17, has achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, Boy Scouting’s highest award. The award will be presented at a Court of Honor today at Burgess scout cabin, home of Troop 55.

For his Eagle Scout project, Bryan designed and built a tool shed for the water garden project at West Junior High School.

Bryan began his Scouting career with Cub Scout Pack 3055 at Sunset Hill School. He camped for four years at H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation, where he is a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. He is also a member of the Order of the Arrow. Bryan has attended summer and winter camping programs at Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, N.M.

Bryan is a senior at Free State High School, where he is involved in Chamber Choir, Model United Nations and varsity tennis. He is a member of National Honor Society and has been named a National Merit semifinalist.

Bryan is the son of Dennis and Melinda Maygers, Lawrence, and the grandson of Rawleigh and Phyllis Zilliox, Lawrence, and Conrad and June Maygers, Prairie Village.

  • Venturing Crew 2052, chartered to St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church, recently camped at Camp Naish. During the stay, the crew hiked the entire Rim Rock Trail and earned the Rim Rock Trail Patch.

The camp was to help prepare members for their winter high adventure trip to OKPIK camp in Ely, Minn., as well as their summer high adventure trip to Philmont, N.M.

Girls and adults attending were Alexis Tommer, Michelle Pressgrove, Barbara Pressgrove, Anna Robinson, Robin Robertson, Clarissa Wagner, Rose Wagner, Christy Howard, Kathy Lewis, Marcia West and Ralena McCurdy.

The crew has a limited number slots open for female youths and adults for Philmont. Anyone interested should contact Ralena McCurdy at 542-3050.
