Floyd Earl Landreth

Services for Floyd Earl Landreth, 77, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

Mr. Landreth died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004, at his home of natural causes.

He was born Oct. 15, 1926, in Lawrence, the son of Wesley and Flossie Pearl (Sprouse) Landreth. He lived in Lawrence all his life and attended Liberty Memorial High School.

Mr. Landreth was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Germany during World War II. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and life member of Alford-Clarke Post No. 852 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a former member of the Elk’s Lodge and Fraternal Order of Police.

He drove the Blue Goose Bus for special events and Kansas University team trips and served as a police officer while at KU.

He married Donna Lee VanMeter on Oct. 18, 1953, in Lawrence. She survives, of the home.

Other survivors include a daughter, Donita Bouton, Lawrence; and two granddaughters.

Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time Monday at the church.

The family suggests memorials to Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders Association of Greater Kansas City, Douglas County Visiting Nurses Assn. or First United Methodist Church, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
