Thelma ‘Lorene’ Roberts

Services for Thelma “Lorene” Roberts, 81, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Roberts died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2004, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

She was born June 2, 1922, in Eminence, Mo., the daughter of Fred Hulin and Amanda Elizabeth (Kelly) Sellars. She had lived in Lawrence since 1946.

Mrs. Roberts had worked at Johnson’s Service Grocery in east Lawrence. She was a waitress at Keim’s Cafe and Crown Drug, and she managed Casa De Taco in the 1960s.

She married Billy John Beebe in July 1947. They later divorced. She married Bill Roberts on Feb. 28, 1969. He died in 1984.

Survivors include two sons, Garry Beebe and John Beebe, both of Lawrence; two brothers, Charles Hulin Sellars, Sunrise Beach, Mo., and Floyd Darrell Sellars, Kansas City, Mo.; two sisters, Ruby Webb and Ellen Miller, both of Lawrence; two granddaughters; and a great-granddaughter.

Family will receive friends an hour before the service time.

The family suggests memorials to Lawrence Memorial Hospital Endowment Association Palliative Care, sent in care of the mortuary.
