Watkins hires intern
A $3,500 grant from the Kansas Humanities Council has allowed Watkins Community Museum of History to hire Kerry Lippincott, a graduate student in museum studies. Lippincott will work on a program titled Preserving 19th Century Clothing.
Her duties will include vacuuming, re-housing and cataloging part of the 19th century clothing collection and photographing the collection for the museums records. She also will work on a brochure with tips on how to preserve home items, such as a wedding dress, linens and quilts. The brochure will go on the museum’s Web site, www.watkinsmuseum.org, when it is finished.
Clean Air group to meet
Clean Air Lawrence, a coalition of people advocating a smoking ban in all public buildings in Lawrence, will meet Thursday in Lawrence Memorial Hospital’s meeting room G.
The meeting, which is open to the public, will run from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.
