Navy Seaman Brian Handshy Jr. has graduated from Seabee Construction Electrician training at the Navy Construction Training Center Detachment at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas.

The course is designed to equip sailors with the technical skill and knowledge required to perform electrically related duties and tasks at construction sites or on technical equipment.

Students learn to operate, install, service and maintain base power plants, electric motors and controls, power distribution systems, interior wiring, solid state components, and bucket/auger truck operation.

He earned distinction as an honor graduate of the course. Handshy, a 1997 Lawrence High School graduate, is the son of Brian and Ronda Handshy, Lawrence.

  • Army Pvt. Michael Andrews has arrived at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Aberdeen, Md., to complete the wheeled vehicle repairer advanced individual training (AIT) course.

The student will be trained to troubleshoot, repair, replace and adjust all related engine, fuel, air and cooling systems, electrical chassis, mechanical and hydraulic components, systems, and assemblies of wheeled vehicles and diesel power plants/packs. Additional instruction will include use of technical publications, tools, and diagnostic equipment needed to repair wheeled vehicles.

Andrews, a 2001 graduate of Tonganoxie High School, is the son of Ronda and Ernest Andrews, Tonganoxie.
