  • Becky and Johnny Taylor, Elpaso, Ark., announce the birth of a daughter, Olivia Ann Taylor, born Feb. 11, 2004, in Searcy, Ark. She has a brother, Garrett Taylor, 4. Maternal grandparents are Wray and Sondra Spooner, Lawrence, and Joyce and Lloyd Bledsoe, Lawrence. Paternal grandparents are J.C. Taylor and the late Reba Faye Taylor.

  • Devon Bireta, of Lawrence, has been named to the 2003 fall semester president’s list at Truman State University, Kirksville, Mo., by earning a 4.0 grade-point average. Devon is a freshman and the daughter of Rich and Jane Bireta.
  • MidAmerica Nazarene University, Olathe, has announced area students who made honors during the fall 2003 semester.

Tabitha Jones, Baldwin; Rebekah Vann, Lawrence; Diana Hill, Ottawa; and Matthew Rogers, Wellsville; qualified for the school’s honor roll by earning a 3.2-3.49 grade-point average.

Lisa Wise, Basehor; Julie Beck and Kathryn Davis, De Soto; Steven Hood and Terri Schwager, Lawrence; Jean Mace, Ottawa; and Amy Barnes and Sarah Mages, Tonganoxie; made the dean’s list by earning a 3.5-3.99 grade-point average.

  • Kaitlynn Heflin and Katherine Heflin, Lawrence, were named to the fall 2003 semester dean’s list at Choate Rosemary Hall, Wallingford, Conn. They are the daughters of Melvin Heflin.
