Seabury swept by Trojans

? Seabury Academy’s boys basketball team Tuesday suffered a 58-18 defeat to Marais des Cygnes Valley.

Grayson Dillon had six points to lead the shorthanded Seahawks, 3-11, who were playing without Adam Davis, out with illness.

“Grayson Dillon really did a fantastic job,” Seabury coach Marcus Heckman said. “Tonight, the issue for the team was being ready to play, motivated to play an intense game, and we weren’t, with the exception of Grayson, ready to go. He was not only ready to go, but one person we were able to rely on.”

Friday, Seabury fell to Midway-Denton, 53-33.

Tonight, the Seahawks will finish a game against Barstow, Mo., that was called after a power outage earlier this season. Barstow leads the game 20-19 with 3:45 left in the third quarter. Game time will be 6 p.m. at Seabury.

Melvern — Laura Frizell scored 13 points in the Seahawks’ loss.

“This is a very good team we played against,” Seabury coach Eric Nelson said. “Their starting five started since they were sophomores, and they’re seniors now. We’re young. We didn’t have the horses to stay with them, and they pretty much ran us out of they gym. Hopefully, we’ll be doing what they did to us to other teams later on. We just have to keep plugging.”

Seabury (0-11) will play host to Topeka Heritage Christian in the Seahawks’ home finale Friday.
