George E. Steward Jr.

? Services for George E. Steward Jr., 51, Waverly, will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Church of the Nazarene in Garnett. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery in Agricola.

Mr. Steward died Monday, Feb. 16, 2004, at Stormont-Vail Healthcare in Topeka.

He was born July 11, 1952, in Ottawa, the son of George E. and Norma L. (Brock) Steward. He graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1970. He lived most of his life in Waverly.

Mr. Steward was a pipe fitter for various companies, including Daniels International during the construction of Wolf Creek nuclear plant near Burlington. He also was a farmer.

He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 224 and the Sedana Chapter No. 194 in Williamsburg, as well as the Shriners in Topeka.

He married Janice Murphy in the late 1970s. They later divorced. He married Patricia E. Beyer on June 3, 1995, in Miami, Okla. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include his parents, Waverly; four sons, George E. III, Lawrence, Joseph R., Jacksonville, Fla., Nathan D., Ottawa, and Mark Redding, Auburn, Neb.; two daughters, Sherry Brown, Wichita, and Tonia Jackson, Westphalia; two sisters, Carolyn Bond, Waverly, and Brenda Gasaway, Indian Springs, Ohio; a grandmother, Mildred Steward, Waverly; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Jones Funeral Home in Waverly.

The family suggests memorials to primary pulmonary hypertension research at Kansas University Medical Center or the Church of the Nazarene Youth Group, sent in care of the funeral home, 501 Dane St., Waverly 66871-9660.
