— Baldwin High shook off a slow start -- and caught a break when Spring Hill missed the tying free throw with .9 seconds remaining -- to keep its hopes for an undefeated Frontier League season alive with a 48-47 girls basketball victory Tuesday over Spring Hill.

Emily Brown led Baldwin with 13 points. Kari Garrison added 12 and Jamie Lawrenz 10.

"Spring Hill played a terrific ballgame," BHS coach Eric Toot said. "They put a lot of pressure on us defensively."

Baldwin (14-2 overall, 8-0 league) hit just four of 21 field-goal attempts in the first half.

"We dug ourselves a hole," Toot said, "but in the second half we battled back to get back in the game."
