Cardinal clubs KU, 10-6

Palo Alto, Calif. — Seven runs in the bottom of the ninth inning, including a walk-off grand slam, lifted No. 4 Stanford past Kansas University, 10-6, in baseball Sunday. The Jayhawks (7-7-1), on the heels of two straight defeats at the hands of the Cardinal (8-1), blew leads of 4-0 and 6-3. KU’s home opener is 1 p.m. Sunday against Creighton at Hoglund Ballpark.

KU softball sweeps event

San Antonio — Kansas University’s softball team earned two wins Sunday to complete a 5-0 showing at the Fastpitch Express College Classic. The Jayhawks (7-4) defeated Kentucky, 5-4, in the early game and host UT-San Antonio, 7-3, in the finale at the SAISD Spring Sports Complex. Kansas travels next weekend to Santa Barbara, Calif.
