Billed as a “global wine boutique,” Wines by Jennifer is housed in a restored home, circa 1910, in the historic Old Town District of Parkville, Mo.

Proprietor Jennifer Havens is a former energy trader and licensed pilot who decided to leave her fast-track career behind to open the ultimate retail experience for wine lovers.

Each room in the uniquely restored house represents one of the major wine regions in the world. The Spain and Portugal room features textured deep red walls, a mottled gold and grey ceiling and a crackle-painted floor designed to resemble the style of the area. In the domestic wine room, featuring wines from California, Oregon, Washington and Missouri, blades of hay are mixed in with the plaster walls to lend a rustic, rural feel.

In each room, a detailed map of the region shows customers where the vintages are produced.

Colorful clusters of realistic-looking grapes hang from a pergola in the tasting room at the back of the house. Customers can sample four different wines from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Offerings change each week. In addition to wine, Wines by Jennifer offers specialty foods, including a wide selection of Osceola cheeses and various wine-related items, such as racks, corkscrews and party napkins.

Wines by Jennifer will be featured this week on “Home & Away,” hosted by Cathy Hamilton.

A new show airs at 6:30 p.m. each Monday on Sunflower Broadband Channel 6 and repeats at 9 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. The show is also broadcast at 9 p.m. Tuesday-Friday and 9 a.m. Sunday.
