Hannon’s 36 power Bulldog boys

Brown helps Baldwin girls complete sweep of Prairie View in 83-48 rout

? Welcome back, Andy Hannon.

The senior and leading scorer of the Baldwin High boys basketball squad returned Thursday after a monthlong absence, scoring 36 points and leading the Bulldogs past Prairie View, 80-51.

“The whole team has been really enthused since he returned,” Baldwin coach Jeff Haas said. “We’ve had some spirited practices, and I was hoping it would carry over into the game. It was fairly evident early on that we would do that.”

Hannon, who was out because of a broken hand, was 3-of-4 shooting from three-point range, hit seven of eight free throws and generated many of his points off steals and sound defense. Behind him and Jeremy Wright, who added 25 points, Baldwin jumped to a 20-12 first quarter lead and never looked back.

“We didn’t rebound particularly well,” Haas said, “but we did an awful lot of other things very well.”

Baldwin (7-10) will play host tonight to Eudora.
