Services for Agnes Marie Oberzan, 88, Lawrence, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.

Mrs. Oberzan died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2004, at Pioneer Ridge Retirement Community.

She was born July 14, 1915, in Scammon, the daughter of John J. and Honnora Lucy (Carlson) O'Malley. She graduated from Cherokee High School. She moved in 1955 from Scammon to Lawrence with her family.

Mrs. Oberzan was a homemaker and had worked for the Extension office in Cherokee County before her marriage. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and its Altar Society and the Brookdale Extension Unit. She was the Douglas County representative to gather information for the Kansas Department of Health publication, "Pierre the Pelican."

She married Rudolph J. Oberzan on June 17, 1941, in Scammon. He died Aug. 13, 1986.

Survivors include a daughter, Annora Look, Bixby, Okla.; five sons, Joe M. Oberzan, John V. Oberzan and Thomas P. Oberzan, all of Lawrence, Rudy J. Oberzan II, Epping, N.H., and David M. Oberzan, Fort Worth, Texas; a sister, Mary Eileen Wilbert, Shawnee; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A rosary service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary, where family will receive friends after the rosary.

The family suggests memorials to the church and Lawrence Catholic School Endowment, sent in care of the mortuary.
