Elizabeth J. Pooler

Ms. Pooler died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2004, at an Emporia hospital.

She was born Oct. 11, 1936, in Topeka, the daughter of Walter B. and Eula E. Witmer Pooler. She graduated from Seaman High School in Topeka and attended Clark Business College.

Ms. Pooler worked for Southwestern Bell and Topeka Investment Management and for Sallie Mae in Lawrence for several years.

She married Lloyd Ostrander on June 19, 1959. She later married Chuck Smith in February 1980. They divorced.

Survivors include three sisters, Linda Soendker, Emporia, Susan Walker, Kansas City, Mo., and Janet Reed, Spring Hill; two brothers, Norman Pooler, Dayton, Ohio, and Bob Pooler, Douglasville, Ga.; and a grandson.

A son, Benjamin Ostrander, died earlier.

Friends may call after 1 p.m. today at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, where family will receive them from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. today.

The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society, 1315 S.W. Arrowhead Road, Topeka 66604-4020.
