Floyd ‘Putt’ A. Engstrom

? Services for Floyd “Putt” A. Engstrom, 86, Junction City, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Penwell-Gabel Mass-Hinitt Chapel in Junction City. Cremation is planned and inurnment will be later in Dwight Cemetery.

Mr. Engstrom died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004, at Valley View Professional Care Center in Junction City.

He was born July 20, 1917, in Geary County, the son of Casper W. and Emma Pearl (Amthauer) Engstrom. He was a lifelong resident of Junction City.

Mr. Engstrom was drafted into the U.S. Army on March 3, 1942, and served as an observer during World War II. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 45 for 46 years and Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 830. He was a long-distance truck driver with State Distributors from 1960 to 1985, when he retired.

He married Hazel Powell on April 28, 1945, in Cardiff, Wales. They divorced in 1984.

Survivors include two sons, Greg F., Fort Worth, Texas, and David B., Lawrence; two daughters, Tami E. Law, Topeka, and Jayne M. Karmann, Junction City; a brother, Arnold A., Wichita; a sister, Angeline G. French, Natchez, Miss.; five grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; a great-grandchild; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.
