Rosalyn E. Thompson

Mrs. Thompson died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004, at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville.

She was born Dec. 22, 1913, in McLouth, the daughter of Herman and Katherine (Martens) Ehlers. She lived most of her life on a farm near Winchester.

Mrs. Thompson received a teaching certificate and bachelor’s degree from the University of St. Mary in Leavenworth and a master’s degree in education from Kansas University.

She was a teacher and principal for nearly 60 years in Kansas schools, including a one-room school in Hazel Ridge and in Fort Leavenworth.

Her husband, Fred Thompson, died earlier.

She is survived by her neighbor, Paul Davenport, and his family, which she thought of as her own.
