Letha A. Transmeier McCrary

Services for Letha A. (Transmeier) McCrary, 68, Lawrence, will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Inurnment will be at 4 p.m. Friday at Clinton Cemetery.

Mrs. McCrary died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004, at Providence Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan.

She was born Oct. 2, 1935, in Douglas County, the daughter of Ernest and Mabel (Lawson) Transmeier. She had lived in the Lawrence area all of her life.

Mrs. McCrary worked at Hallmark Cards in Lawrence from 1968 until her retirement in September 1995. Since the fall of 2001 she had worked for the Laidlaw Co. Prior to working at Hallmark, she worked for the Stokely-Van Camp Co. in Lawrence.

She attended Perry Christian Church. She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary in Lawrence.

Survivors include two daughters, Debbie Maulden and Pam Brown, both of Lawrence; a son, Ron McCrary, Lawrence; a brother, Cecil Transmeier, Jefferson County; and two grandchildren.

A grandchild died earlier.

The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary.

The family suggests memorials to the American Heart Assn. or to the Ronald McDonald House in Kansas City, Kan., sent in care of the mortuary.
