Bill would continue state vanpool

? The state employee vanpool would continue to roll, under a bipartisan bill that has been introduced.

Gov. Kathleen Sebelius wants to abolish the program, which transports 270 state workers from Lawrence and other areas to Topeka.

The riders pay for the service, but Sebelius said the state should be out of the commuter business.

Among those who are introducing the bill are state Reps. Paul Davis, Tom Sloan, Barbara Ballard of Lawrence.

Davis and Ballard are Democrats and Sloan is a Republican. State Rep. Lee Tafanelli, R-Ozawkie, has also signed onto the legislation.
