Parents questioned in possible child abuse

Lawrence Police have questioned two parents in connection with an ongoing child abuse investigation involving an injured 2-month-old girl.

Police were called to Lawrence Memorial Hospital on Dec. 22 after the infant was brought in with a suspicious head injury.

The baby was then transferred to the University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City, Kan. There was no word on the child’s condition Wednesday.

Police interviewed the mother and father but no arrests were made. A police spokesman said the case would be forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office, which will determine if charges should be filed.
