Virginia M. Schutz

Services for Virginia M. Schutz, 86, Lawrence, were Dec. 23, at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Tecumseh, Neb. Burial was in St. Andrew’s Cemetery in Tecumseh.

Mrs. Schutz died Monday, Dec. 20, 2004, at Brandon Woods Retirement Community in Lawrence.

She was born May 4, 1918, in Omaha, Neb., the daughter of James and Emily McAvin. She graduated from Clarkson School of Nursing in 1944. She lived in Minnesota before moving to Tecumseh in 1954. She moved to Lawrence in 1988.

Mrs. Schutz was a surgical nurse. She was an active member of St. Andrew’s Altar Society. She was also a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Lawrence.

She married Dr. John C. Schutz on Dec. 17, 1949.

Survivors include four sons, John A. Schutz, Brookings, S.D., James Schutz, Lincoln, Neb., Thomas Schutz, Oakland, Calif., and William Schutz, Chicago; three daughters, Margaret Schutz and Susan Burton, both of Lawrence, and Mary Henne, Auburn, Neb.; a brother, Raymond McAvin, San Diego; and six grandchildren.

Wherry Brothers Mortuary in Tecumseh was in charge of arrangements.
