Raymond D. Reed

Mass of Christian Burial for Raymond D. Reed, 63, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Reed died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born Aug. 15, 1941, in Lawrence, the son of Delbert and Opal Maybery Reed.

Mr. Reed served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam conflict. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Alford-Clarke Post No. 852 and American Legion Dorsey-Liberty Post No. 14 in Lawrence. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church.

He married Phyllis Briggs on May 26, 1967, in Miami, Okla. She survives, of the home.

Other survivors include two daughters, Kimberly Turner, Lawrence, and Michelle Spurling, Eudora; two brothers, Delbert Jr., Lawrence, and George, Lake of the Ozarks, Mo.; and two granddaughters.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.

The family suggests memorials to Lawrence Memorial Hospital Palliative Care Fund, sent in care of the mortuary.
