Donald R. Stagner

? Services for Donald R. Stagner, 90, Clay Center, will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Clay Center. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Clay Center.

Mr. Stagner died Friday, Dec. 24, 2004, at Clay County Medical Center.

He was born Aug. 27, 1914, in Plainville, the son of Herbert and Gertrude Ross Stagner.

Mr. Stagner graduated from Waldon High School in 1932 and attended college in Fremont, Neb. He moved to Clay Center and then to Wichita, where he worked for Boeing Aircraft Co. He also worked as a supervisor with the U.S. Postal Service and co-owned and operated Sixth Street Grocery in Clay Center. He retired in 1981.

He was a World War II veteran of the Army Air Corps. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Lions Club, and was a past president and 50-year member of the Clay Center Masonic Lodge. He also was a past patron of the Order of Eastern Star and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. He was a past board member of the Rainbow Girls and Clay Center Child Care Center. He was a member of the Clay Center Country Club.

He married Geneva Haynes in 1940. She died in 1967. He married Charlotte Buchmann Christensen in 1979. She survives, of the home.

Other survivors include a son, Ross, Helena, Ala.; two daughters, Caroljean Brune, Lawrence, and Joan Chance, Silver Lake; a stepson, Arnold Christensen, Santa Barbara, Calif.; five grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A grandson died earlier.

Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home in Clay Center.
