Storm also strands mail

? If you didn’t get a Christmas present this morning, it doesn’t necessarily mean you’re on Santa’s “naughty” list.

A vast blizzard that has paralyzed several states in the South and Midwest has delayed some of Santa’s helpers — from UPS, FedEx and the U.S. Postal Service.

That means you may have to wait till Monday to get your gift.

The Postal Service — which delivers about 20 billion pieces of mail from Thanksgiving to Christmas — will deliver parcels today with its Express Mail, which runs 365 days a year, spokesman Paul Harrington said.

“We all know how important it is because it’s really more than mail, it’s an expression of love that people are sending to one another,” Harrington said.

But FedEx and UPS, major private carriers, won’t deliver this weekend.

“We obviously regret any inconvenience this may have caused our customers for the holiday,” said UPS spokesman Malcolm Berkley.

The company’s workload will likely have totaled about 340 million packages between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

At FedEx, which runs a major hub in snowed-out Memphis, Tenn., “We’ve been prioritizing packages for those that have to be delivered before Christmas,” spokeswoman Sandra Munoz said. She added that FedEx suspended its money-back delivery guarantee.
