Sooners upend Utah

? Oklahoma got 17 points from Erin Higgins and snapped No. 25 Utah’s seven-game winning streak with a 72-59 victory Tuesday night.

Dionna Jackson added 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Sooners (7-3), who opened the second half with a 9-0 run. Kim Smith had 19 points for Utah (8-3), but she was unable to help the Utes overcome an early deficit.

The Utes pulled within 35-29 at the break, but the Sooners opened the second half with their decisive run over 31/2 minutes to extend their lead to 15 points.

The Sooners limited Utah to 32-percent shooting, while making 44 percent of their shots, including 59 percent from three-point range.

Texas-Arlington 24

Austin, Texas — Texas used a suffocating defense to extend the nation’s longest home winning streak to 40 games. Tiffany Jackson scored 12 points for the Longhorns (6-2), who sat their starters for much of the game. Terra Wallace had 10 points for Texas-Arlington (4-5), which scored just 11 in the second half and shot just 17 percent overall.

Penn State 65

Lubbock, Texas — Cisti Greenwalt scored a season-high 21 points, and Texas Tech used a strong finish to the first half in defeating Penn State. The Raiders (7-2) overcame a five-point deficit by outscoring the Lions, 11-1, during the final 8:06 of the half. Penn State (5-5) was led by Tanisha Wright with 19 points.
