Freshman leads Cowgirls

? Oklahoma State freshman Taleesha Conder recorded her first double-double, and the Cowgirls defeated Texas Southern, 55-39, Monday at Gallagher-Iba Arena.

Conder scored 17 of her 22 points in the second half and also grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds.

The Cowgirls (4-4) struggled offensively in the first half, hitting just 34 percent from the field and one of their six attempts from three-point range, but OSU was still able to take a 25-20 lead at the break. In the half, OSU forced the Tigers (0-8) into 18 turnovers, converting the miscues into 16 points.

Overall, the Cowgirls forced TSU into 32 turnovers and held the Tigers to a 28 percent night from the field that included a 6-of-31 effort from the three-point line.

In the second half, OSU was unable to pull away until a 16-0 run pushed the lead from four to 20 at 53-33. Conder fueled the spurt with seven points, four rebounds and two steals.

Senior Nina Stone was the only other Cowgirl to reach double figures with 14 points and nine rebounds.

Nebraska 81, Louisiana-Lafayette 70

Lincoln, Neb. — Jessica Gerhart had 16 points and seven rebounds and four of her teammates scored in double figures to lead Nebraska.

Kiera Hardy had 15 points, Chelsea Aubry 11 and Jina Johansen and Jelena Spiric 10 apiece for the Cornhuskers (7-4), who are 6-0 on their home court.
